Accra, June 19, GNA –
Defence counsel in the Mawarko Restaurant case on Monday said that they have
made a strong case and so would not be calling their next witness to testify
for the accused.

Mr Julio Meridorios
told the Abeka District Court hearing the case that “we have realised that we
have a strong case” and so there was no need for calling another witness.

He therefore prayed
the court presided over Victoria Ghansah to furnish them with the court
proceedings.

The court reminded the
defence counsel that they have 14 days to file their address.

The case was adjourned
to July 3.

The accused, Jihad
Chaaban who is a supervisor of the restaurant was accused of allegedly dipping
the face of one Evelyn Boakye, a worker into a blender full of blended pepper.

He was charged with
assault, offensive conduct and causing harm, but the accused has denied the
charges and maintained that he was innocent.
