But Silva, 31, is going nowhere until his Etihad deal expires in 2019, according to Spanish news outlet Elgoldigital.

Las Palmas and Silva have reached a verbal agreement with the Gran Canaria club that the move will go ahead – on the condition that they are in La Liga in two years’ time.

He has already rejected several lucrative offers from Spain as he is committed to his current City deal.

Silva joined City in a £24million transfer from Valencia in 2010.

He has won two Premier League titles, two League Cups and the FA Cup during his time in Manchester.

In that time, the midfielder has also won two European Championships and the World Cup with Spain.

Last January, Silva revealed: “If I go back to Spain, it will be to play for Las Palmas.”

Silva’s place in the City team has come under threat this season with the £43m signing of namesake Bernardo from Monaco.

But Pep Guardiola is still likely to rely on his countryman throughout a busy campaign of both Premier League and Champions League football.
