Cristiano Ronaldo fails to attend press conference after being named man-of-the match in Portugal’s 2-2 Confederations Cup draw with Mexico

CRISTIANO RONALDO failed to appear for the usual post-match interview after being named man-of-the-match for Portugal in their 2-2 draw with Mexico.

After finishing with an assist in the Confederations Cup Group A game, he was expected to give an interview after the match.

He did however give an interview for the Fifa YouTube channel, where he only spoke about the international game that took place in Russia.

Hector Moreno headed a late equaliser for Mexico as they drew 2-2 with Portugal in their Confederations Cup opener.

The centre-half rose highest in injury time to give the sides a share of the spoils.

Southampton defender Cedric Soares looked to have won it for Portugal as his shot towards goal looped off a defender and in for 2-1 in the 86th minute.

Ronaldo had set up Nani for the opener in the first half, which was cancelled out by former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez two minutes before the break.

Earlier today SunSport reported how Ronaldo’s people reportedly believe £131million will be enough to secure his signature this summer.

The legendary forward is believed to be unhappy in Spain after allegations of tax fraud.

And Ronaldo is now be linked with a shock move away from Real Madrid, with the likes of former club Manchester United said to be extremely interested.

Whether a move does materialise for the Portuguese ace remains to be seen.

Ronaldo is reckoned to favour an Old Trafford return should he leave Real, with former Los Blancos boss Jose Mourinho also keen on a reunion.

However, there is plenty of reported interest from elsewhere, with Premier League champions Chelsea looking at him as a replacement for Diego Costa.

United’s fierce rivals Manchester City could also make an outrageous swoop, but Ronaldo could prefer to try his luck in a new country.

French giants Paris Saint-Germain and German aces Bayern Munich are both allegedly keen, while there is no lack of interest from rich clubs in China and the US.
