It is believed Ronaldo was outraged with how Real Madrid handled the situation and that he asked agent Jorge Mendes to seal him a dream move back to Old Trafford.

But following Portugal’s exit from the Confederations Cup, the 32-year-old met up with Madrid officials to discuss his current situation.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Ronaldo denied ever wanting to leave the Bernabeu.

The forward is set to meet with Madrid president Florentino Perez to resolve the situation ahead of pre-season.

Following the disappointment of crashing out the Confederations Cup, Ronaldo was soon cheered up as he announced that he became a father again.

In a statement on Facebook, he wrote: “I was in the service of the National Team, as it always happens, body and soul, even though I knew my two sons were born.

“Unfortunately, we have not been able to achieve the main sporting objective we wanted, but I am sure we will continue to give the Portuguese joy.

“The President of the Portuguese Football Federation and the National Selector had an attitude today that sensitized me and I will not forget.

“I am very happy to finally be able to be with my children for the first time.”
