AdokpoCourage Adukpo emerged the overall winner of this year’s Ghana’s Strongest body building competition, beating off competition from three equally tough opponents in the grand finale of season 5 of the 7-week TV reality show on Sunday with a total of 94 points.

Combining power, discipline and consistency, Adukpo excelled in the various drills in front of a huge crowd at the plush Oceanic Beach Resort on the fringes of the sea in Korle Gonno in Accra to emerge the champion of season 5 of the show organized by Accra based private television channel, TV3. He went home with a whooping cash prize of thirteen Ghana Cedis (GH¢13,000), a championship title, certificate and assorted drinks and souvenirs from the sponsors of the show.

Finishing in the runner-up spot, a mere two points behind Adukpo was Damian Smith who went home with a huge cheque of GH¢10,000 (ten thousand Ghana Cedis), certificate, assorted drinks and souvenirs as well as the most disciplined athlete award.

Osumanu Mumuni Dabiri alias John Cena, a top favourite for the championship failed to click in the opening rounds and had to settle for third place on 87 points but also won himself a consolation with the most masculine athlete award in addition to his seven thousand Ghana Cedis cash prize, certificate and souvenirs.

Young Ahmed Boakye not only finished fourth in his debut tournament which begun with ten finalists after they stood tallest in the final eliminator back in May at the premises of TV3 following two regional auditions in Accra and Kumasi, but Boakye also took home the award for discovery of the season and GH¢10,000 cash prize.

“We are very excited for another successful season of this thrilling show, we are grateful to our sponsors and appreciate the support or fans who showed up in numbers than we envisaged to cheer on their heroes in the final,” Michael Adonis Ahorlu, Marketing and Project Organiser at TV3 expressed.

“Bodybuilders are usually portrayed in bad light as landguards, robbers and street fighters and this competition is our own small way to portray them in a good image and we hope they will make use of the opportunity,” Mr. Ahorlu added.
