CLOGSAG begins strike over unpaid allowances

strike1Work at the various ministries and local assemblies will be disrupted today as members of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) begin a nationwide strike.

The over fifty thousand CLOGSAG members are striking over government’s refusal to pay them some allowances.

Leaders of CLOGSAG say their members are not being fairly treated in the payment of interim premium to public sector workers.

Executive Secretary of CLOSAG Isaac Bampoe Addo told Starr News the association has followed due process in declaring the strike.

“We are staying at home and not coming to work. Under the single spine pay policy, there should be fairness and equity so for fairness and equity, we think we should also enjoy interim allowances our colleagues are enjoying. We have had some talks with government and we have not gotten what we want and until we get what we want, We will continue to stay at home,” Bampoe stated.
