Chris Brown calls his arrest a ‘set-up’, maintains his innocence

chriss brownChris Brown is maintaining his innocence after his highly publicized arrest last week.

The singer was charged with assault with a deadly weapon after his accuser, Baylee Curran, told police Brown threatened her with a gun in his San Fernando Valley home.

Brown’s defense team, led by his lawyer Mark Geragos, is now claiming Curran set up the singer, sharing a text message she sent to a friend with ABC News.

“This freak Chris Brown is kicking me out of his house because I called his [friend’s] jewelry fake,” Curran allegedly texted minutes before calling the police.

“I’m going to set him up and call the cops and say he tried to shoot me and that will teach him a lesson,” she continued.

Following Brown’s arrest, Curran told The Los Angeles Times that the singer pointed a gun at her face after he and another man at his home became angry when she admired the man’s diamond necklace.

In video clips provided to Good Morning America, Brown, who’s out on bail, claims the “truth” about his arrest will be revealed. “I can not wait until the truth comes to light about this incident…because my character’s being defaced, and who I am as a person and my integrity,” he says.

“I’m glad that all my real supporters know me and they know the truth, and they’ll see the truth.”

Brown’s first court date, according to Los Angeles County Jail records, will be Sept. 20 for arraignment.
