Chelsea offer Nathaniel Chalobah new five-year contract worth £60,000-a-week to keep English ace at Stamford Bridge

CHELSEA have reportedly offered Nathaniel Chalobah a new contract.

The midfielder has just one year left on his current deal and is attracting strong interest from Southampton, with SunSport exclusively revealing he’d be available for just £5million.

But the Daily Mail claims Antonio Conte is desperate to keep Chalobah at Stamford Bridge this summer.

The England U21s star has been offered a five-year contract worth a staggering £60,000-a-week, despite only playing one season of first-team football.

But Chalobah was used primarily as back-up and could yet turn down the offer in favour of first-team football elsewhere.

Swansea and Watford have also been linked with the 22-year-old, who made 15 appearances last term.

However, Chalobah could be in line for more action if he stays at Chelsea thanks to the return of Champions League football.

Nemanja Matic is also in line to depart the club, and although Tiemoue Bakayoko is set to join from Monaco, there will be more rotating by Conte than in the last campaign.

Blues fans are sure to be concerned if Chalobah does leave though, having already seen youngsters Dominic Solanke, Nathan Ake and Bertrand Traore move on.

Chelsea could end up without a single club-grown player in the squad following John Terry’s exit.

So Conte is determined to secure Chalobah’s signature on a long-term deal after already getting fellow Under-21s star Tammy Abraham to pen a new extension.
