Last summer the London club wanted to bring in both N’Golo Kante and Drinkwater but where unable to complete a move for the English international.

Leicester were unwilling to sanction the sale of both of their key midfielders to a Premier League rival.

Chelsea would eventually calm their interest as they feared it would jeopardise Kante’s move to Stamford Bridge.

Antonio Conte has been impressed by his work rate and passing ability and is now prepared to make a move.

Drinkwater has learnt of the Chelsea interest and is now prepared to ask Leicester to let him leave the King Power Stadium, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Foxes are, however, reluctant to let the midfielder go.

The midfielder missed Leicester’s most recent friendly against Borussia Moenchengladbach.

The city man might not be first choice if he moved to Chelsea but he is likely to get game time after Nemanja Matić made his move to Manchester United.
