Black Stars B Welfare Chairman Edmund Ackah clears the air on friendly match with Medeama

Edmund Ackah

Chairman of the Welfare Committee of the Black Stars B, Edmund Ackah has refuted reports that a top GFA official has called off a supposed friendly game with Premier League side Medeama SC insisting the reports lack substance.

According to him, he was the one who arranged the match which was scheduled for Saturday at the T&A Park and that no top FA official could call the game off.

The reports were that the unnamed top FA official who is also a leading member of the Black Stars A management committee had called off the match because the head coach of the Black Stars Kwasi Appiah is out of town.

Explaining how the game was arranged, Ackah admitted that the CEO OF Medeama Moses Armah had assured them of providing the Black Stars B with accommodation, feeding and transportation for the game.

“I personally arrange matches including the game with Medeama after approval by the Coaches,” Ackah said.

“I spoke to Medeama and they accepted my proposals.

“The next was to write to the General Secretary of the GFA for approval and to sanction the game.

“But as of last Friday when I went to the FA the secretary of the Black Stars B management had not sent the request to the GFA General Secretary,” Ackah explained.

Ackah added that the GS of the GFA travelled with the Black Stars to the US for the friendly games with Mexico and USA hence their inability to reach him with the request.

“Unfortunately Alex (Acting GS) travelled with the Black Stars after his return from CAF.

“I called the Management Committee chairman, Nii Komiete Doku, to inform him of the arrangement I had done. He agreed and was happy

“So no top FA official called off the game but we rather did not table the request on time,” he added.

It is however unclear whether the game will be played or has been called off completely.
