Black Stars B coach Maxwell Konadu believes his outfit have been given a wake up call by their 3-1 defeat to Godwin Attram’s de Visser Academy in a friendly encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday.

After going ten games without tasting a defeat during their preparations to the 2018 CHAN qualifiers against Burkina Faso, the Black Stars B succumbed to a 3-1 defeat to Godwin Attram’s de Visser in their last preparatory match before enplaning to Ouagadougou on Wednesday.

And according to coach Konadu, the defeat was a wake up call and stressed that it has offered him the opportunity to prune down his squad and select the best players for the much anticipated tie.

“It was good exercise, this was the first time we have been beaten and for me it serves as a wake up call even though we didn’t start with the best of our available players,” Konadu told reporters after the game.

“But we needed to give other players the opportunity to see what they have got, so now have a clearer idea of those making the trip. It good to see these players in match situations, if they are at the clubs they fantastic but when they don the national colours, it is a different situation all together.”

The first leg will come off on August 12 in Ouagadougou before hosting the 2nd leg a week later at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
