Birmingham 5 Crawley 1: Blues thrash the Red Devils following Che Adams’ first senior hat-trick

CHE ADAMS showed just why ex-Birmingham boss Gary Rowett wants to take him to Derby — by netting a sizzling hat-trick.

Brum bosses have rejected a £3million bid from Championship rivals Rams for Adams, who also hit the woodwork as Harry Redknapp’s side saw off League Two Crawley in style.

Unstoppable Adams completed his treble after 66 minutes when he burst into the box and grabbed the hosts’ fifth.

It was Rowett who signed Adams from Sheffield United exactly a year ago to the day when he was at St Andrew’s.

Now he is aiming to take him to Pride Park following his move to Derby after being controversially sacked last season.

But Redknapp is in no mood to sell and wants to bolster his squad.

Blues have just two fit senior strikers at present and are considering giving Adams, 21, a new deal.

On a night when Harry met Harry, it was Redknapp who came out on top rather than Crawley boss Kewell.

Adams opened the scoring on 28 minutes when he netted with a low drive after a neat one-two with David Davis.

The pair combined again as Adams hit the post and Davis made it two with an excellent solo effort.

Adams converted his second from close range and after the break Robert Tesche scored with a powerful header.

David Cotterill was the game’s assist master and he teed up Adams’ third.

Crawley sub Panutche Camara grabbed a consolation with four minutes left after netting with a 20-yard drive.
