Bias claims: Posterity will judge us – Speaker hits back at Minority

The Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Mike Ocquaye has hit back at the minority over accusations of bias against them[minority].

The minority side last week expressed worry about the manner in which the Speaker of Parliament, Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye, is handling affairs in Parliament.

They served notice that if the Speaker continues to deny them a level playing field in the House, they will use available options, including filing a motion to challenge his conduct and initiating an impeachment process against him.

The Minority Chief Whip, Alhaji Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka, told a Press conference last week that the Minority was expecting the Speaker to exhibit his discretionary powers in a fair manner as required by the Constitution.

But the Prof. Mike Ocquaye however, at today’s sitting insisted he’s been fair to the minority and advised they stick to the official way of expressing their grievances.

“…I’ll advise since it has been raised that Please whoever feels disrespect, use the appropriate processes and honesty that which you know refer to which happened in parliament should not happen again, i’ll say so with all respect  for the records, tomorrow posterity will judge all of us.”
