BBSRC/CASE GSK funded PhD Studentship, 2017 Scholarship Positions 2017 2018




Applications are invited for BBSRC/CASE GSK funded PhD Studentship in Bioengineered 3D models of T cell migration and activity. UK/EU applicants are eligible to apply for this studentship.

This 4-year joint project on Bioengineered 3D models of T cell migration and activity begins on 25th September 2017 and will focus on the immune response to ovarian cancer and improve cancer immunotherapy.

The Cancer Research UK Barts Centre aims to transform the lives of those with and at risk of cancer through innovative research in the laboratory, in patients and in populations.

Course Level: Studentship is available to pursue PhD programme.

Study Subject: Studentship is awarded for Bioengineered 3D models of T cell migration and activity.

Scholarship Award: This studentship includes the following funding:

  • A tax-free annual stipend of £16,553
  • Project consumables
  • Tuition Fees (up to the Home/EU rate only)

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the scholarship:

We are looking for a highly motivated graduate with an interest in cancer research and a background in subjects such as Immunology, Bioengineering, Biomedical Sciences, Cancer Biology or Biochemistry.

Academic entry requirements

Applicants must have, or be expected to obtain, at least an upper second-class honours degree (or equivalent), in a relevant subject or a lower second class honors degree and an MSc with Merit/Distinction, (or equivalent), in a relevant subject

English language requirements

Applicants for whom English is not the first language will also require a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 (or equivalent) unless your Undergraduate/Masters degree was studied in and awarded by an English speaking country. Eligibility for funding

Full funding is only available to UK /EU nationals who have been resident in the UK for 3+ years immediately prior to the studentship start date.
