Bawumia visits Sierra Leone today, as Ghana sends $1 m relief items

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is scheduled to lead a government delegation to troubled Sierra Leone today, where over 400 people have reportedly perished following a mudslide disaster.

The visit by the Vice President and his entourage also follows a donation of USD1 million of relief items to Sierra Leone by the Government of Ghana last night. The items include food, medicines, clothes and logistics for temporary shelters.

Information Minister, Mustapha Hamid has disclosed that the Vice President will meet with officials of Sierra Leone to sympathize with them.

Sierra Leone’s capital Freetown, this week  experienced a devastating mudslide and flooding that claimed over 400 lives. Dozens are still missing, and presumed dead.
