Arsene Wenger insists Alexis Sanchez has NOT asked to leave Arsenal – and PSG want Neymar as they know they can’t sign the Chile striker

ARSENE WENGER insists Alexis Sanchez has NOT asked to leave Arsenal.

And he claims Paris Saint-Germain are targeting Neymar as they know they cannot land the Gunners’ Chilean striker.

Sanchez, who has only a year left on his Emirates deal, has refused to sign a new one.

But boss Wenger said: “He has not asked to leave. PSG cannot get Sanchez, so they are going for Neymar.

“I have made it clear a few times — my stance is that Sanchez is not for sale.

“We are in a strong financial situation so want to keep our best players.”

However, Wenger claims it is impossible to stop clubs tapping up stars.

Monaco have accused Manchester City and PSG of trying to lure their £100million-rated striker Kylian Mbappe, who is also wanted by Arsenal.

And Wenger declared: “If you have top players you cannot stop it from happening.

“We’ve fought against this for 20 years but it still happens. How can you check when an agent meets a director from another club or which player speaks to who? It happens every day.”

Wenger himself has been widely reported to have met Mbappe and his family — but insists he has done nothing wrong.

He said: “We are respectful with the clubs.

“We ask them what they want to do and, if they don’t want to sell, then we don’t insist.

Meanwhile, Jack Wilshere has been offered an Arsenal escape route by Turkish outfit Antalyaspor — though his £20m price tag is a problem.

Antalyaspor president Ali Safak Ozturk  said: “We are in talks but Arsenal want a lot for Wilshere.

“It will be a difficult move to pull off.”
