Arsenal vs Chelsea – Community Shield team news: Alexis Sanchez a doubt for the Gunners, while Eden Hazard and Tiemoue Bakayoko both missing for Blues

ALEXIS SANCHEZ’S involvement in the Community shield this Sunday is a “gamble” according to Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

In his pre-match press conference, Wenger said that he ‘hasn’t decided’ whether Sanchez, and German defender Shkodran Mustafi will be involved.

The Frenchman also confirmed that ‘basically everyone else’ is available for selection – while Mesut Ozil and Ramsey who weren’t in full training should make it.

“For us it’s important to build his [Sanchez’s] fitness and put him in a reasonable condition before we expose him to tough tests. Maybe he will play,” said Wenger

“He looks good. He had a good rest so needs to work on his fitness. But once he’s in a game he’s sharp and looks like he’s never been away.”

Chelsea boss Conte confirmed today Hazard, Bakayoko and wing-back Victor Moses will not feature against Arsenal.

The Blues are all carrying longer term injuries, which will likely see them miss their Premier League opener against Burnley next weekend.

Conte said: “When you have Hazard injured, I don’t think there are any other options. We have only Willian so I tried this combination. It could be an option for me but Alvaro wants to play like a No.9 but he could play like a No.10.”

On the game, Wenger said it was a good opportunity to repeat his team’s FA Cup final winning performance against the Blues.

He said: “Two teams who will go for the first trophy of the season with power and a desire to be ready for the championship.

“So that plays a part of it as well. We can also give competition to players who will need it.”

The game will kick off at 2pm on Sunday August 6.

The Community Shield usually kicks off at 3pm, but it has been brought forward an hour to avoid a clash with the Women’s European Championship final – between the Netherlands and Denmark
