Koforidua Hospital detains 80-year-old over unpaid bills

oldwomanThe Eastern Regional Hospital popularly known as Koforidua Central Hospital has detained an 80-year-old woman from Somanya for over three weeks for non-payment GHC1,100 medical bills.

The 80-year-old woman was admitted at the Atua Government Hospital near Odumasi Krobo and was subsequently referred to the Koforidua Central Hospital for better health care but was discharged few days after her admission.

But due to her inability to pay her medical bills, Madam Victoria Tettefio, said to be suffering from stroke is still at the hospital.

Her distraught daughter, Abena Lizzy in an interview with Adom News’ Maxwell Kudekor claimed her mother’s condition has deteriorated due to the inhumane treatment being meted out to her at the hospital.

She lamented that her sick mother has been denied food at the hospital for three weeks and currently sleeps on the floor at the female ward.

Abena Lizzy appealed to the social services organizations, NGO’s and philanthropists to come to their aid and settle the hospital bills to enable them go home
