19 LOC Members of African Air Expo inaugurated

Nineteen Local Organizing Committee (LOC) members have been inaugurated for the first ever African Air Expo which is scheduled to take place in October this year in Accra under the auspices of the Ministry of Aviation.

The Air Expo, which would run from October 24 to October 26, 2017, would be held under the auspices of the Ministry of Aviation in collaboration with an experienced event organizer, 4M events based in Dubai.

In order to ensure adequate preparation for the African Air Expo in October this year, there is the need to have a formidable body to take charge of all the preparatory work and related issues. It is in this vein that a local Organizing Committee (LOC) has been constituted to collaborate with the Ghana Airports Company Limited and 4M Events for an efficient and effective organization of the Air Expo.

Speaking at the inauguration of the LOC members, Minister of Aviation, Hon. Cecilia Abena Dapaah said the Air Expo will bring together the major players in the industry including airport companies, airlines, regulators, airport management agencies and ground handling agencies.

“The Air Expo is being organized in collaboration with One of the key policy objectives of the Ministry is to establish Ghana as the Aviation Hub of West Africa. In this regard, it is important for the industry to organize such events in order to showcase the different opportunities available in the Aviation Industry in Ghana and on the African Continent” she said.

The committee as constituted has representatives from the Ministry of Aviation, Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Ghana Airports Company Limited, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana Armed Forces, Port Health, Customs, Excise and Preventive Service, National Security, State Protocol, Ghana Police Service, Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, Air Traffic Control and Private Sector.

Madam Abena Dapaah tasked the committee “As member of the LOC, you have been identified as important leaders with the requisite experience and resources to help organize the Air Expo. It is my belief that your invaluable expertise will inure to the benefit of the event. The task ahead is enormous yet the resources are limited. I will therefore implore you to come up with very pragmatic and innovative ideas to ensure that the event is not only successful but an event to be remembered in the annals of the Aviation Industry in Ghana and Africa.”

She added that “It is my hope and expectation that the African Air Expo will propel Ghana to achieve our vision of being the Aviation Hub in the sub-Region. I wish to commend the local consultants, the Ghana Airports Company Limited for their preparations so far, hope that at the end of it all our hopes and aspirations will be achieved.”

The show will provide a forum for interaction among stakeholders and prospective investors in line with Government Policy of Public Private Partnership in the Development of our aviation infrastructure and services. It will also create an avenue for stakeholders to share experiences, findings and showcase achievements among others.

The Aviation Minister further said ‘We are aware of the fact that Ghana has gained recognition for the country’s democracy and political stability and Ghana is one of the growing economies especially in this part of the world, making it an ideal choice for investors. I also wish to take this opportunity to invite corporate bodies and individuals to come on board to sponsor the event to showcase the potential of our Aviation Industry’.

The Chairperson of the Committee, Mrs Joyce Bannerman Wood on behalf of the LOC, promised that they will deliver for the World to see that Ghana is really an Aviation Hub.
